Dragonfly

Natural history: Dragonflies are fast and effective predators, catching prey mid-air! They are a type of insect which lays eggs in water. From the eggs, the immature dragonfly or ‘nymph’ spends its time hunting prey in water before eventually climbing out and shedding its exoskeleton to become a winged adult.

Observation Tips: Look for the two pairs of large wings, 2 big compound eyes and a long, thin abdomen.
