On the badges page you can record activities to earn badges.
If you are an educator you will first have to choose the class (or group) you are working with. [Hint: you can set up a class to try out the badges yourself, then make it inactive in the School Admin page when you no longer want to use it]. Students can also earn badges using their own accounts.
When you first start the badges only the bronze level badges are unlocked. When you complete the bronze badges you get the Bronze award and unlock the silver badges. When you complete the silver badges you get the Silver award and unlock the gold badges. Note that class awards are trophies and student awards are stars.
Tap on a badge to see what you have to do to complete that badge.
When you have completed the badge tap on the completed button at the bottom of the instructions. Tell us what you did to complete the badge and (if possible) attach images or video as evidence to show us.
When you attach files you can choose to post on the Community page to show other schools what you have been up to.
You can upload files by dragging and dropping the file onto the button area, or browsing to select files. You can choose more than one file to upload.
Some badges are completed in BES Encounters. If there is a button just under the badge title you can tap it to complete the badge. This could take you to MammalWeb to do a quiz or classify images, or it could be a BES Encounters task, such as sharing a post.
You can use the filter buttons to show only the badges matching that button. This could filter by animal type (mammals, birds, invertebrates, general nature) or by activity type (quizzer, scientist, transformer, creative).
The status bar at the top of the page shows the total number of badges this class or student has earned and any awards they have achieved.
