Emirates Nature-WWF’s Wildlife Scanner UAE

Take part in this activity to help local biodiversity conservation as you experience the UAE’s wild side from the comfort of your home!

Explore the wildlife of the UAE with your own eyes by diving into the ocean or hiking into the mountains, all within the convenience of your home. Our scientific experts at Emirates Nature-WWF have deployed camera traps and Baited Remote Underwater Video Surveys (BRUVS) to record and monitor life on land and underwater, to explore and monitor local biodiversity.

But we need your help! By reviewing the resulting footage on MammalWeb, you can support our work as a citizen scientist by classifying various species all while learning about the UAE’s unique natural heritage. Through understanding what species are present, where they live and when they are around, we can better inform conservation decisions to protect our local wildlife.

About Emirates Nature-WWF:

Emirates Nature-WWF is a non-profit organisation established to drive positive change in the United Arab Emirates to conserve the nation’s natural heritage. The organisation was founded in 2001 under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Governing Board of the Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi.

For two decades, Emirates Nature-WWF has been a prominent and active partner in environmental conservation in the MENA region. We work in association with WWF, one of the world’s largest and most respected independent conservation organisations, which has a 60-year legacy of environmental conservation and is supported by more than 5 million members worldwide.
