Discover Brightwater

The River Skerne catchment is an area of approximately 200 km2 that extends from the Durham Magnesian Limestone Plateau in the north to the Tees Lowlands in the south.

Landscape Partnerships are a funding programme operated by the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF), and are intended to promote understanding, valuing and sharing of heritage to bring people together, inspire pride in communities and boost investment in local economies.  The River Skerne catchment area is shown in the map but more about the project in general can be found at its evolving website: https://discoverbrightwater.com

This project on MammalWeb will allow those living in the Brightwater area to contribute data obtained by camera trapping and to help to classify such data. This, in turn, will help to expose the natural heritage of the area, and the impacts of changes being made by the landscape partnership.
